Technical Business Systems Analyst

The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA),

the largest airline pilot union in the world and the largest

non-governmental aviation safety organization in the world (representing

over 75,000 pilots at 43 U.S. and Canadian airlines) seeks an

experienced Technical Business Systems Analyst for our McLean, Virginia,

office. The Technical Business Systems Analyst supports

the Association in deciding how best to use existing technology and/or

integrate new tech into existing systems. As such, they play a crucial

role in ensuring the effectiveness, functionality, and quality of

Association software. Main areas of responsibility include requirements

analysis, Quality Assurance (QA), continuous process improvement,

ensuring clear communications between business stakeholders and

development teams, and UX assessment. The ideal candidate possesses a

unique blend of business analysis and quality assurance expertise,

combined with a deep understanding of software development processes.

Local, national, and international travel: 2 - 5%.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in relevant area, e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or other related discipline, from an accredited college or university required; or, the equivalent combination of education and practical experience. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Three (3) years of proven experience as a Software Business Analyst or Quality Assurance Specialist in a software development environment, five (5) or more strongly preferred. Additional applicable experience may be substituted for the academic requirement.
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, etc.).
  • Proficiency in requirements gathering, user story creation, and functional specification documentation.
  • Extensive experience in manual and automated testing, test case creation, and defect tracking.
  • Familiarity with testing tools and frameworks such as Jira, Selenium, TestRail, or similar.
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and strategically.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality software products.
  • Professional certifications related to business analysis and quality assurance, e.g., CBAP or ISTQB, are a plus.
  • Strong commitment to continuous learning and staying current with industry trends and best practices.

metropolitan area. Also includes occasional bending, stooping,

squatting, and/or pushing and pulling or moving, e.g., to pack, unpack,

and/or move cases.

Occasionally required to move, raise, reach,

and/or retrieve binders, books, boxes, and files up to one hundred (100)

pounds (lbs.). While on travel, may be responsible to move, raise,

reach, and/or retrieve binders, boxes, cases, and/or files weighing as

much as fifty (50) lbs. (Assistance may not always be available.)
