Job Description:

This position contributes to the mission of Oak Hills Church (OHC) to be disciples who make disciples by guiding all people to follow Jesus moment by moment. The staff member is responsible for managing network reliability and the strategic deployment of hardware that maintains consistent connectivity while ensuring industry-standard security.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administers the following technologies: Network Security Auditing, Firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems, TCP/IP Routing, Security Policies, and virtual private networks (VPN) Technologies.
  • Manages and maintains DHCP server, Active Directory, and Office 365 roles and policies.
  • Maintains scalable multi-layer networks and conducts troubleshooting for firewalls, switches, and routers.
  • Installs, configures, upgrades, and operates LAN and WAN services, including but not limited to the use of these protocols: IP, Frame Relay, VLANs, RIP, Ethernet, and Access Lists. Installs, supports and operates wireless LAN solutions.
  • Maintains network security, quality of service (QoS), VPN, and broadband technologies to support communication infrastructure.
  • Conducts network security monitoring for viruses, malware, and phishing attacks and implements security measures to maintain network integrity.
  • Monitors security reports, lists, and logs proactively patching vulnerabilities after careful research regarding impact.
  • Maintains inventory of all In-house systems and networks appliances.
  • Collaborates with supervisor in upgrading and replacing server hardware.
  • Creates and maintains documentation of network configuration and port identification.
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies and protocols as assigned.
  • Receives and resolves escalated troubleshooting of Help Desk hardware issues such as network access, wireless access, hardware failure, importing/exporting files, and general technical problems.
  • Participates in team and church-wide staff meetings and initiatives, and special projects.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates Degree from an accredited college/university or technological school in related area. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Three (3) years of experience in network administration/engineering or related field.
  • A+ and Net+ Certified required.
  • Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator desired.
  • Experience can substitute for education.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of Network Security; Firewalls and VPN technology.
  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN infrastructure, design, Internet technologies, and trends.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy.
  • Knowledge of Virtual computing.
  • Knowledge of file storage and sharing.
  • Knowledge of VLans, Switching and Network design.
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery methodologies.
  • Knowledge of PC Operating Systems and hardware.
  • Knowledge of budget development, expense tracking/reporting and administration.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement within existing systems and effectively implement contextualized solutions.
  • Ability to configure and install networking hardware with TCP/IP.
  • Ability to manage local and cloud server connectivity.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively through both verbal and written means.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, members, and ministry volunteers.
  • Ability to perform all the physical, intellectual, and analytical requirements of the position including decision making.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT AND WORKING CONDITIONSOccasional lifting/carrying up to 40 pounds; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer keyboard and basic office equipment. Subject to sitting, standing, reaching, walking, twisting and kneeling to perform the essential functions. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment.
