Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for an Applications Engineer III in the Global Operations & Innovation Center ("GOIC") in our Wheeling, WV office preferably and consideration given for 100% remote US locations.

Responsibilities:

The Applications Engineer is an exciting and impactful position having a focus on provisioning Windows endpoints, developing images and deploying applications leveraging tools such as Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager and Intune and playing a leadership role in managing a select number of enterprise applications. The engineer will be responsible for providing technical support in all aspects of design/customization, implementation/deployment and maintenance for select firm applications. This includes providing third level support for applications.

  • Provisioning Windows endpoints and deploying applications leveraging best practices to optimize system performance.
  • Work with other IT teams and application sponsors in application initiatives.
  • Manage the planning, design, documentation, configuration and implementation of a defined set of applications.
  • Manage the entire application life cycle including actively monitoring for application patches, service packs and upgrades.
  • Stay abreast of new technologies and trends and bring forward relevant ideas and enhancements to improve endpoint performance and user experience.
  • Participate in the On-Call support rotation of the Applications Team. This will require learning Orrick’s core application suite.
  • Help to plan and implement systems and services particularly in the areas of desktop hardware, design and performance that differentiate Orrick from other law firms and keep us on the leading edge of technology.
  • Assist in the support of any firm application when called upon to do so.
  • At least 5 years’ experience and expert level knowledge of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager including creating/deploying applications, task sequences and system configuration.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical staff.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related area from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 3 years’ experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager and Intune including a successful deployment of Autopilot to production computers strongly preferred.
  • Expert level experience with PowerShell scripting.
  • Expert level experience with Windows Operating systems including Windows 11.
  • Knowledge of laptop and desktop hardware.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products and Microsoft 365 offerings.
  • Experience implementing, leveraging and supporting Microsoft 365 a plus.
  • Expertise in Active Directory and Azure Active Directory.
  • Mac experience a plus.
  • Experience working with and trouble-shooting remote access platforms such as Cisco AnyConnect and Zscaler or similar solutions from a client perspective.
  • Strong understanding of networking and server operating systems.
  • Expertise in Active Directory.
  • Solid database understanding a big plus
  • Experience leading or working on significant IT projects.
  • Experience in either the legal or professional services industries preferred.
  • Very strong customer service orientation required.
  • Strong organizational skills required.
  • Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities required.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is required.

The amount of pay offered will be determined by a number of factors, including but not limited to qualifications, relevant experience, primary work location, market data, and internal equity.
