IT Support Technician
The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA),
the largest airline pilot union in the world and the largest
non-governmental aviation safety organization in the world (representing
over 67,000 pilots at 39 U.S. and Canadian airlines) seeks an IT
Support Technician for our Tysons (McLean), Virginia office. Under
direct supervision, the IT Support Technician provides
assistance that includes the installation, testing, and maintenance of
personal computer hardware and software for Association officers,
volunteers, and staff. They coordinate and carry out activities
associated with the maintenance and operation of all personal computers,
tablets, and printers; identify, analyze, and resolve equipment
problems; and, initiate and monitor corrective action. They are
responsible for support services - in coordination with other department
staff - for problem resolution of a more advanced technical nature.
They also develop, organize, and maintain a technical library (software,
manuals, and procedures) and carry out special projects as assigned.
Travel: 0 - 10%.

Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma required and one year specialized training in college and/or technical school; or, the equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
- Two (2) years of related experience, four (4) or more years preferred. College degree may be substituted for some experience.
- Software: Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
- Strong customer service skills required.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, including ability to install personal computers and printers.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and take an assertive approach to problem solving.
- Ability to work in a constantly changing environment.
- Ability to learn new technologies and applications quickly.
- Ability to interact professionally at all times with all levels of contacts, internal and external.
- Must have a working knowledge of personal computers in the standalone and networked environment.
- Familiarity with hardware independent imaging and secure wipe software.
- Experience working with third party hardware and service vendors for computer and software warranty repair.
- Familiarity with e-mail configuration on various computers and smart devices.
- Able to run diagnostics on client-side hardware to determine problem(s).
- Working knowledge of MS Windows, Apple operating systems, and network switches, printers, and copiers.
- Experience providing audiovisual assistance and troubleshooting strongly preferred.
- Must be able to run diagnostics to determine hardware problem(s).
- Some working knowledge of NT, client servers, network hubs/switches, and Windows strongly preferred but not required.

Constantly operates a computer/smartphone/tablet.
Regularly required to maintain a stationary position; move about the
office and the local metropolitan area; determine what others have said

Must have the ability to safely lift, transport, and move boxes of
computers, supplies, and/or equipment up to fifty (50) pounds (lbs.)
multiple times a day, as needed.
Regularly required to sit,
stand, bend, reach, and move about the office and travel locally. May
also include occasional bending, stooping, squatting, and/or pushing and
pulling or moving, e.g., to pack, unpack, and/or move cases.
Occasionally
required to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve books, boxes, and files
up to seventy-five (75) lbs. Sporadically, may be responsible to move,
raise, reach, and/or retrieve boxes, cases, files, packages, shipping
containers, and/or equipment weighing as much as one hundred (100) lbs.
