About the Role:

Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, the Senior Manager, Development will be responsible for securing and stewarding institutional and individual gifts to support CodePath’s work. You will be responsible for shaping the narrative to tell CodePath’s story to donor prospects, including institutions and high net-worth individuals, and creating and managing effective stewardship processes that fuel ongoing commitment among our donors. Working closely with our overall revenue team, you will also be responsible for executing fundraising events with the goal of bringing our current and prospective donor community together in person to engage with CodePath’s work and deepen their support.

Key Activities:

In partnership with CodePath’s Senior Director of Development and Chief Executive Officer as we seek to launch a major philanthropy campaign, you’ll have the following responsibilities:

Donor Cultivation (40%)

  • Solicit gifts from institutional and individual donors to support existing and new programs, products and opportunities to reach 8-figure annual philanthropy goals. Manage a large portfolio of prospects with the potential of raising major gifts. Solicit and close gifts at all levels, beginning at $10,000+.
  • Develop and maintain a portfolio of donor prospects to optimize fundraising opportunities. Develop techniques to start cold relationships and move them through the donor continuum to a gift conversation.
  • Research and synthesize donor data using a variety of sources to develop excellent donor briefs
  • Serve as a qualification officer for new leads for major gift prospects ($10,000 and up) and planned gifts from research, prospect tracking tools, and donor database. Work in partnership with the Senior Director of Development and CEO to build relationships to close major gifts.

Storytelling + Events (40%)

  • Oversee all special events related to fundraising and gift cultivation, including: working with volunteers and stakeholders, as needed; setting goals for events; identifying event sponsors and underwriters; and overseeing all other details related to each event and meeting approved fund development goals.
  • Conduct event administration with invitations, sponsorship materials distribution, guest list management, ticketing, vendor and venue relations, and day-of site coordination.
  • Tell the CodePath story and impact through creating inspiring external collateral and sharing data in a clear and compelling way
  • Assisting in the creation and implementation of appropriate solicitation materials and timelines.
  • Collaborate with other CodePath teams relevant for event success, such as marketing or program

Donor Stewardship (20%)

  • Create, implement and manage stewardship initiatives (e.g. regular phone calls, thank-you mailings, donor recognition activities, board thank-you notes, etc.). Ensure proper stewardship and recognition of donors in portfolio.
  • Ensure donor engagement records and systems are consistently kept up-to-date and accurate.
  • Be proactive and responsive to donors, crafting and managing communications, responding to inquiries, and drafting communications to support CEO outreach.
  • Analyze demographic and statistical donor data to implement strategies for identifying, cultivating, and engaging our donor base.
