The Cloud Production Engineer deploys and supports IEEE cloud environments, mostly on Amazon Web Services (AWS). As a member of the Cloud Engineering team, the incumbent will ensure that the cloud systems, upon deployment, operate according to availability and performance specifications. He/she must also be able to support a hybrid deployment model.

The Cloud Engineering team is a sub-team of the IT Strategy and Enabling Technologies (ITSET) team, which is responsible for defining and executing on IT strategy and enabling technology use in support of IEEE's mission of fostering technological innovation and excellence. As a member of this dynamic team, the Cloud Production Engineer will be afforded plenty of opportunity to broaden his/her professional horizon by participating in technology-driven innovation, workplace digitalization, mobile presence enablement, enterprise architecture and technology standardization/rationalization activities.

An individual in this position reports to the Cloud Strategy Director and functions as an individual contributor.

Education

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience In Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Technology Req.

Work Experience

* Less than 2 years of recent experience (in academic and/or industry settings) in deploying and managing systems on AWS and/or cloud systems administration, in general, Req.

Licenses and Certifications

* AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate Upon Hire Req.

Skills and Requirements

* System administration experience with Red Hat Linux, Amazon Linux, and Windows Server is preferred.

* Technical understanding of cloud technologies in the areas of system administration, automation, networking, and security.

* Ability to troubleshoot and resolve system availability and performance issues.

* Ability to follow IT governance and processes.

* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to adopt IT core competencies of collaboration, customer focus, accountability, responsiveness, continuous improvement, trust, and respect.

* Ability to maintain professionalism throughout business dealing particularly when challenged.
