CodePath is a national nonprofit that brings together employers, students, and colleges to eliminate inequities in tech education and provide underrepresented students with a path toward economic mobility. Our programming centers on the needs and successes of Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and low-income Computer Science students. Founded in 2017, CodePath has taught over 10,000 students and delivered courses across over 70 universities. We are supported by some of the largest and most well-respected organizations, including Andreessen Horowitz, Blue Meridian Partners, Cognizant Foundation, Comcast, Google, Meta, Salesforce, Walmart, and Workday, among others.

About the Role:
Research shows that up to 80% of underrepresented minority CS students will drop out during their first-two years of college, and we believe it’s a problem of inspiration, support, and access. CodePath offers industry courses and career services at no-cost to students and universities nationwide that make our students 4x more likely to land a technical internship/job than those who do not.

As a Student Outreach Coordinator - Southeast, you will activate, build and foster communities at our southeast target university campuses in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) to drive student enrollment to our courses. As part of the Students and University Outreach team, we will expand our footprint from 70 universities to 90 by the end of 2024.

Success includes:

  • Assist with identifying and launching new university partnerships by working with with university professors, CS Chairs, student clubs, career centers and local-nonprofits
  • Raise awareness within your target university communities around CodePath’s no-cost CS courses and career services
  • Recruit, support, and maintain partnerships with student club/organization leaders, career centers and professors, from target universities to drive enrollment to our courses, summer internship programs and career services
  • Meet student enrollment goals and penetration within target regions.

This role reports directly to the University Partnerships, Manager - Southeast

Key Activities

  • Recruit and manage student leaders (Tech Fellows)
  • Identify and travel to universities, conferences and student-related events within target regions to recruit students to fill our courses and summer internship programs. May include overnight stays.
  • Conduct training program for Tech Fellows and communicate enrollment goals; manage and work in partnership with Tech Fellows to build community at target universities and reach enrollment goals
  • Direct student outreach. Email campaigns, social media, 1:1 meetings, phone calls to alumni and students to drive enrollment to our courses
  • Host info sessions and run awareness campaigns at target universities (in partnership with the Tech Fellows)
  • Identify and connect , with student club/organization leaders, career centers and professors, as needed in the target region
  • Support University Managers with onboarding new or renew universities

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate is a self-starter and has the interpersonal skills to develop strong collaborative relationships with college students, student clubs, and other university stakeholders. They are passionate about increasing the diversity of the tech industry and supporting underrepresented minorities to excel in their careers.

  • Lives in our southeast target region of the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia)
  • Passion for equity, education, and social impact. Champion for student success
  • Self-starter with a drive for results and passion for growth. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and you’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves to get the job done
  • Strong communication and writing skills. You’re not afraid to dive in and develop the messaging if we need you to quickly draft an email campaignExperience with Hubspot or marketing automation tools
  • Familiar with connecting with students via social media (LinkedIn, Discord, etc.)
  • Comfortable with public speaking
  • Pays attention to detail, and enjoys juggling multiple priorities
  • Willingness to be stretched and learn at a fast pace
