Job Summary:

The Database Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing digital databases. Uses computing tools to create new databases or adjust the function and capacity of existing databases. Design efficient database engine processes for sorting and accessing information. Uses programming knowledge to build data pipelines and integrate new information into existing databases.

Provides leadership in the evaluation and design of existing or proposed systems to structure and access enterprise databases. Analyzes system requirements of the user department, applications programming, and operations. Submits recommendations for solutions that require definition of the physical structure and functional capabilities of databases and require data security and data backup/recovery specifications. Proposes detailed specifications and flowcharts and coordinates installation of systems.

Essential Functions:

•Provides technical design, implementation, maintenance, system administration and support of hardware, software, network and/or instructional technology.

•Provides end-user support on information technology issues through consultation and advising, problem identification and resolution, training and preparation/maintenance of documentation.

•Participates in projects and cross-functional activities related to information technology initiatives or processes.

•May provide on-call support for designated systems or services.

•Analyzes data requirements, application and processing architectures, data dictionaries, and database schema(s), and then designs, develops, amends, optimizes, and certifies database schema design to meet system(s) requirements.

•Gathers, analyzes, and normalizes relevant information related to, and from business processes, functions, and operations to evaluate data credibility and determine relevance and meaning.

•Development and design of database and warehouse applications across multiple platforms and computing environments.

•Development of an overall data architecture that supports the information needs of the Foundation in a flexible but secure environment.

•Responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software.

•Reviews progress and evaluates results. Recommends changes in procedures. Reviews progress with management.

•Works on database and code management, review, and documentation.

•Works with application developers to know how applications work and tests results.

•Works with implementation team to build, customize and roll out new solutions, and with consultants to design and build solution structures specific to needs.

•Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Education, Knowledge, Experience & Certification/License:

•Knowledge and understanding of principles, procedures, regulations, and standards applicable to the job.

•Experience with SQL, Crystal Reports, Qlik, Microsoft Power Bi, Data Visualization and Microsoft Azure

•Understanding of the Foundation's mission, vision and goals.

•Ability to conduct short- and long-term planning.

•Ability to analyze problems and find resolutions.

•Ability to prepare and present reports.

•Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written.

•Ability to gather and interpret relevant data and information.

Job Family Levels

• Level I:

o High school diploma or equivalent

o 3 years relevant experience in computer maintenance, troubleshooting, graphic and web site design, and programming or a related field.

• Level II:

o Bachelor's degree in a related discipline.

o 3 years relevant experience in computer maintenance, troubleshooting, graphic and web site design, and programming or a related field.

• Level III:

o Bachelor's degree in a related discipline.

o 5 years relevant experience in computer maintenance, troubleshooting, graphic and web site design, programming or a related field.
