As a Product Architect at TQL, you will be responsible for helping our Software Development teams create and maintain software products by providing technical guidance, leadership, coaching, and recommendations based on your experience. In addition, you will identify opportunities to keep our products on the cutting-edge of technology and the transportation industry.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Assist in creating documentation that ensures a consistent framework for development and solutions across the IT/Engineering organization
  • Oversee ongoing technical product roadmaps and architecture, according to business strategies and enterprise architecture
  • Coach, mentor and collaborate with technical subject matter experts and EA peers to develop technology architecture that enables and drives new business capabilities and operating models
  • Lead the analysis of the current technology environment to detect critical deficiencies, legacy and technical debt, and recommend solutions for improvement
  • Develop theme-based Proof of Concepts (POCs) to demonstrate feasibility of the product idea and realize it as a viable solution
  • Responsible for generating architecture documents, logical flows and models to keep the team informed on the architecture of the platform
  • Design for functional and non-functional qualities, including availability, resiliency, security, privacy, observability etc.
  • Promote the capture and reuse of code objects and components
  • Lead the analysis of technology industry and market trends to determine their potential impact on the enterprise as well as on the enterprise technology architecture
  • Mentor team members in software development and architectural principles, patterns, processes, and practices
  • Share technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members
  • Serve as a technical and business-savvy resource to software development engineering personnel on a range of software design issues
  • Present architecture and innovative ideas to executive leadership for the purposes of alignment and key decision making
  • Ensure customers and end-users are your top-priority

What you need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field required; advanced degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience with systems architecture
  • Experience with cloud services/platforms, APIs, microservices architecture, scalability, performance, data storage, serverless computing, etc.
  • Experience integrating open-source software, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, real-time monitoring, ML-driven data analytics, etc.
  • Experience with Web Services, JSON, XML, SOAP, REST technologies
  • Solid knowledge of relational and non-relational databases and when to use each
  • Desire to be on the cutting edge and willing to stay on top of the emerging technologies
  • Experience with Angular/.Net/Java a plus
  • Comfortable with Agile development and continuous integration build environments
  • Experience creating and promoting development principles and influencing development teams, business users and management in adoption of technical solutions.
  • Experience with source control systems, preferably (Azure DevOps\VSTS and GIT)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation
  • Excellent analytical and technical skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
