What is primary need, technical challenge, and/or problem you will be responsible for?

As a Product Engineer, you will play a key role in connecting our partners and clients to the next wave of application delivery and compositable user experiences. You will collaborate with our principal architects, engineering teams and other resources to realize our product vision, specifically around network transport and optimization, self-healing networking, visibility and reporting and security. You will collaborate with technical staff to design, configure, develop and maintain an enterprise-wide global cloud infrastructure solution using the VMware Suite of applications to deliver IT services through automation and pre-defined policies.

You will learn the nuances of our services stack and aid in extending that across additional public and private Cloud environments. You will provide expert architecture, design and issue resolution across your domains, and coordinate with other internal resources to ensure our client experience creates raving fans. You’ll drive innovation in the form of POC and solution testing, and operationalize successful outcomes with runbooks, MOPs / SOPs, and client enablement assets. You will eventually lead a team of engineering resources through close collaboration, oversight and expert insight and recommendations.

This role requires experience in all phases of the development lifecycle, including use of formal required documentation, testing methodologies, implementation strategies and troubleshooting techniques. You will work on unusually complex technical problems and provide solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious, and approach challenges with a DevOps mindset to be able to research and innovate automation using vendor APIs and disparate technologies. You will work with teams, vendors and consultants to determine strategy for complex system changes, upgrades and implementations and to understand processes to determine how to incorporate into the Cloud so they adhere to policy while being streamlined using automation.

Additional responsibilities include developing methodologies and practices to manage and plan system capacity based on projected growth rate to ensure that system performance remains at acceptable levels, maintain software versions of the host infrastructure servers to the latest production levels keeping compliant with security requirements, standards, and lead efforts in the research and documentation of processes, including new procedure manual documentation, implementation, and updates.

What Other Skills Give Me an Advantage?

• Experience designing global layer 2 / layer 3 networking environments

• Hands-on experience with VMware and infrastructure technology stack

• Deep understanding of networking technologies including LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, Software-defined Networking (NSX and others)

      • Demonstrated experience managing and engineering: VMWare ESX, NSX, vSphere 6.x / 7.x, vRealize Operations

      • Experience with Arista and Fortinet appliances

      • Experience with FortiManager

      • Performing engineering or development functions in direct support of infrastructure services

      • Broad general knowledge of networking infrastructure and protocols

      • Experience with management and reporting tools for logging, health, performance, and availability / capacity

      • Experience with network and infrastructure security, including heuristic / behavioral-based threat detection

      • Experience with compliant infrastructure environments (SOC, PCI, HIPAA, etc.)

      • Understanding of general security principals overall

      • High-level understanding of infrastructure economics (how to fractionalize costs across usage or capacity)

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • VMware Certified Professional or similar certifications Expertise using vRealize Operations Manager, Life Cycle Manager or Code Stream

      • Experience with VMware’s Site Recovery Manager (SRM) or Cloud Director Availability

      • Experience with software-defined management and orchestration for Networking (such as Cumulus or similar)

      • Experience with VMware NSX automation

      • Experience integrating Unified Communications and/or VoIP System Integration (i.e. Avaya)

      • Experience using:

      • Ansible

      • The Agile software development method

      • Jira / Confluence

      • ServiceNow experience a plus

      • Project Management experience

      • Working knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or Linux desired

      • Communicate technical procedures and processes to non-technical users

      Compensation

      • $140,000 -$160,000 annually (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, and alignment of market data.)
