The IT Team of the Forest Practices Division is seeking a programmer/analyst who will use their programming skills to create software tools for DNR staff to use to get their jobs done more efficiently and for landowners to easily interact with state government in order to meet their needs. The Forest Practices Program guides management of timber harvest and other forest practices on about 12 million acres of private and state forests within Washington. DNR Forest Practices Program field staff are responsible for reviewing proposed forest practices activities so they need accurate data to help them make decisions and easy to use tools to document and communicate those decisions. The landowners of Washington State who wish to conduct forest practices activities also need tools to efficiently document their proposed activities. Working with DNR staff, stakeholders and landowners, this position helps to create those tools. This position also uses their knowledge of scripting to answer complex questions regarding proposed Forest Practices rule changes or changes in law. |
