Chief Information Officer LAFD

The Los Angeles City Fire Department (LAFD) is seeking an experienced individual to join the Fire Chief’s executive team as a Chief Information Officer (CIO). The CIO will head the LAFD’s Information and Technology Bureau.

The CIO position is critical to the LAFD’s ability to properly assess and prioritize its technology needs, develop a budgetary and staffing plan, and manage the funded projects to ensure they are brought to fruition in a timely manner and on budget. The CIO will manage Requests for Proposals and contract negotiations, oversee, review, analyze, evaluate and prepare recommendations on various solutions offered by vendors, consultants and other City entities, exercising creativity and ingenuity in directing the work of staff ensuring a timely and on budget delivery of mission critical complex systems. The CIO develops IT policies, procedures and best practices, stays updated on IT trends and innovative and emerging technologies, performs periodic long-range technology planning and direction, reviews and recommends solutions and systems for the public safety operations.

The annual salary range for the position is: $174,556.00 to $255,216.00. (This position will be filled as exempt from Civil Service).
