The University of Southern Indiana invites applications for the position of Chief Information Officer (CIO). The CIO is the principal member of the IT leadership team, serving a key role in university leadership, and works closely with senior administration, academic leaders, and the campus community. The CIO manages the business operations to improve cost effectiveness, service quality and IT operational effectiveness. The CIO provides vision, innovation, advancement, leadership, planning, and coordination of the acquisition, deployment, utilization, and integration of current and emerging information technology across both the academic and administrative sectors of the University.

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or Computer Engineering or related field is required with at least 10 years of progressive IT experience, or Associates Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or Computer Engineering or related field and at least 12 years of progressive IT experience required. Career progression must demonstrate increasing responsibility with significant experience and with comparable responsibility scope. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Requires demonstrated experience with, and a working knowledge of a broad spectrum of applications, services, and technologies, including major enterprise systems.
  • Requires sound budget development and administration skills, and the ability to think and plan strategically about budgets. Requires ability to develop an IT strategic plan for the University that comports with the University strategic plan now in preparation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead efforts across a large organization, including technology related areas not directly reporting to IT, that both create a common vision and achieve results. Incumbent must perform efficiently in a fast-paced environment and have proven record as a high-energy manager who delegates, mentors, and develops staff effectively.
