Senior Software Engineer / Oracle DBA

As a Senior Software Engineer / Oracle DBA, you will work within a team on issues critical to our Informatics business needs. Our clients globally deployed products handle information on a massive scale while giving their clients an edge over their competition for scientific data processing in the world’s health, food, and environmental safety areas. We're looking for a creative and innovative engineer with enthusiasm for designing and maintaining database integrity for our customers.

The Oracle DBA should focus on team, product, and organizational success. They should also consider long term product goals and strategy while working with our existing products. They should have strong interpersonal skills that facilitate collaboration among teams. An ability to influence technical decisions on new strategies that balance requirements, real-world technical limitations and user expectations is required.

Responsibilities:

• Work with our Informatics Development and Global Support teams to identify and resolve highly technical database issues
• Database tuning, monitoring, and disaster recovery using a variety of tools and techniques
• Troubleshoot issues arising from the installation/administration/configuration/migration of databases
• Develop and formulate standards, procedures, and conventions for troubleshooting database use
• Applies solid technical abilities, analytical, problem-solving skills, and application knowledge in resolving production issues
• Resolve challenging problems quickly and effectively in collaboration with others
• Ability to effectively multi-task and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of database administration experience, Oracle DBA nice to have
• Experience with system analysis, development and maintenance of Database (DBMS) systems. This includes strong knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, and Windows / Linux OS.
• Application Development Support using Oracle Apex/Application Express, PL/SQL, and .NET 4/4.5
• Data Migrations, Upgrades, and Disaster Recovery using RMAN, DataPump Export/Import, Flyway, External Tables with DataPump
• Supporting Oracle 12c with High Availability (HA) features on ASM under Windows
• Multi-tenant Oracle 12c Container Database Architecture implementation using PowerShell v3/4/5, SQLPLUS, DBCA to support CI/CD and future client migration roadmap
• Familiarity with Atlassian tools and software source control (GIT)
  
• Programming experience in C/C++/C# is plus.
