What You’ll Be Doing
The Senior Systems Engineer takes an active role in the Design, Deployment, Administration and Maintenance of Systems, Servers and related Equipment within the Organization. Responsible for day to day support and maintenance of the Melbourne Data Center and ensuring Operational uptime. Escalation point for lower Tier support personnel.

During a Typical Day, You’ll

  • The Sr Systems Engineer fulfills an architectural role within the Systems Administration team, leading the design and implementation of approved technologies within the Converged Systems Group
  • The Sr Systems Engineer captures, analyzes and evaluates current systems and provides guidance on future technical developments
  • The Sr Systems Engineer supports strong teamwork and cooperation within the Converged Systems team and with other IT staff
  • The Sr Systems Engineer works in coordination with the Lead Systems Administrator to work projects or tasks and provide direction to junior team members as needed.
  • The Sr Systems Engineer keeps abreast of current technologies to better assist in the deployment and support of new technology
  • Maintain Security of networks and all endpoints located within the Enterprise

Server and Network Support

  • Provide hardware and software support for various Intel platforms and operating systems
  • Work closely with Parent Organizations to support shared systems and applications
  • Work with Network Engineers for troubleshooting of LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi/VPN connectivity
  • Provide the Helpdesk and support teams with quality support in a timely manner
  • Provide scheduled and emergency Administrative Support outside normal business hours (providing 24x7 coverage)

Systems Administration

  • Manages user accounts and file and print sharing configuration
  • Administer the Active Directory enterprise domain
  • Capture, Analyze, Monitor Server and Network performance
  • Make recommendations and prepare reports regarding Server and Network performance
  • Control and contain Systems And Network Incidents and Emergency repairs
  • Design, Implement and Manage user and system policies for Systems and Network security and Approved Resources usage
  • Schedule and execute regular Data Backups and Recoveries as required, performs verification and validation of Data Backup and Disaster Recovery options
  • Work closely with Telephony Systems Engineer as needed
  • Manages, Administers and Monitors virtual environments
  • Maintain & implement the centralized software distribution and asset tracking
  • Maintain internal DHCP and DNS Servers
  • Manage external DNS for Company’s Registered Domains
  • Support the Development and Maintenance of Desktop and Laptop images

Systems Engineering

  • Keeps abreast of new technology that can fit Percepta needs
  • Evaluates current Systems Solutions, makes recommendations for change
  • Creates project plans for engineering tasks and presents to manage team for approval
  • Provides Escalation Tier Support break/fix scenarios relating to new and existing technologies
  • Creates new solution support plans for Administration and support teams

Work Environment

  • Maintain a positive work environment that fosters team performance
  • Support and contribute to open communication flow throughout the Organization

Miscellaneous

  • Work on activities and/or projects as requested by immediate manager

What You Bring to the Role

  • AS degree in Information Systems or 7 years of experience in a Systems Engineering capacity
  • Relative current technical certifications and coursework – MCP, Network+
  • Advanced certifications a plus {MCSA / MCSE / MCTIP / CCNA / VCP}
  • 7 Years Systems Engineering in an enterprise environment
  • In depth knowledge of Storage Arrays and associated Storage Technologies
  • In depth knowledge DHCP, DNS, Windows Active Directory Multi-Site Models, Windows 7/10, Linux
  • In depth Knowledge of VMware ESXi Virtualization, iSCSI and Fiber Channel
  • Working knowledge of Systems Security
  • Strong work ethic, initiative and drive are essential
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communications skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong Technical knowledge of Microsoft Office365 & BackOffice application suites
  • Strong Technical knowledge of Local and Wide Area Networking
  • Able to complete projects and tasks independently with limited direct supervision
