Position Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Information Security Officer, the Senior IT Security Analyst will be part of the IT Security team. This position is responsible for assisting with compliance with Arkansas State University policies, relevant laws and regulations, and protection of systems including:

1. Arkansas State University System Information Systems and Information Technology,
2. servers and endpoints
3. industrial automated control systems, and
4. other Arkansas State University devices connected to the campus network including cameras, printers, and surveillance systems.

All Information Systems and Information Technology support the mission of Arkansas State University and protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of technologies owned or entrusted to Arkansas State University.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as lead programmer or technical specialist on IT Security Projects. Develop or modify integrations between IT Security systems.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across all Arkansas State University System
  • Campuses on hardware and software recommendations solutions for IT Security
  • Implements intrusion detection and avoidance measures, such as logging, firewalling, activity monitors, virus scanners, or other intrusion detection methods.
  • Reviews logging information of assigned systems and devices for abnormal or irregular use characteristic of unauthorized access or denial service.
  • Assists users in the detection and recovery from security intrusions on university equipment
  • Travel will be required.
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

o Practical experience with modern DevOps workflows
o API knowledge
o Coding experience a plus
o Prior cyber security experience is a plus
o Ability to identify potential security breaches and implement counter measures
o Ability to interface with individuals at all levels and establish effective working relationships.
o Knowledge of protocols and standards related to IT Security
o Knowledge of server administrations as related to IT Security

General Days/Hours:

Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested and/or needed
Regular and reliable attendance

Minimum Qualifications:

o An earned Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information systems, or related field
o Degree or certificate in cyber security is a plus
