About the Role

As a Senior Software/Embedded Engineer, you will design and develop new features and services for Brivo's next generation Internet of Things device. Our best engineers are adept at picking up new things, enjoy solving challenging problems, speak up, and thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

You will also be expected to:

  • Be able to qualify a problem statement and code to requirements specifications
  • Maintain quality of product and test coverage (including automated unit tests)
  • In conjunction with other team members, help improve development and quality strategies to streamline the check-in, testing, and overall productivity for coding and building an application
  • Collaborate with peers in your team to complete planning and review activities
  • Work in DevOps culture and foster product ownership

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or closely related preferred.
  • 8+ years year of experience developing systems in C, C++
  • Developing applications and drivers for an embedded linux IOT device
  • Ability to build and cross compile custom linux kernel builds
  • Edge device and over network video and still image processing experience
  • Experience developing embedded software for custom hardware with a focus on video applications
  • Expert level knowledge of make files, for example cmake
  • Ability to read a microprocessor data-sheet
  • Experience with testing and debugging new and existing designs
  • Experience with BLE/WIFI stacks and debugging
  • Hands on experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other test equipment
  • Great attention to detail
  • Thrive in a rapid learning and quick feedback environment
  • Ability to communicate value beyond technical knowhow and domains
  • Experience working in small tightly knit teams

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with networking protocols such as TCP/IP, IPv6, DHCP
  • Expertise with Ambarella Arm Cortex-A, Silicon Labs Arm Cortex-M, MSP430
  • Experience with communication technologies such as CAN, RS485 and RS232 (serial), I2C, SPI
  • Integration experience with interface standards such as NFC, BT/BLE, Wi-Fi, Ultra-Wide Band, Facial Recognition, Capacitive Touch technology
  • Experience with multithreaded embedded applications
  • Familiarity with linux security implementations in IOT devices
  • Deep knowledge of PKI implementations in a linux environment
  • LoRa, 6LoWPAN (Thread, Matter) networking experience
  • Exposure to wireless mesh technologies is a plus (Zigbee, Zwave)
