About the Role

As the Director of Engineering (Smart Home), you will lead several teams in designing and delivering new and enhanced product features in our smart home IoT product portfolio. You will manage development efforts from initial design through testing/deployment while providing strategic direction to the entire department.

You will also be expected to:

• Direct and oversee software engineering activities in the development, release, and maintenance of full-stack SaaS applications
• Manage project goals, contribute to product strategy, and provide leadership for multiple development teams
• Recruit, manage, train and mentor development staff
• Work with cross-functional teams to develop business and user requirements
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and architectural decisions
• Move teams toward the goals of higher autonomy, automation, and CI/CD

About You

• Entrepreneurial spirit and demonstrated ability to achieve goals in an innovative, fast-paced environment
• At least 5 years in a technical leadership role, and 10+ years developing production SaaS code for mission critical services
• Ability to drive a culture of quality, personal accountability, and strong relationships with internal and external colleagues and clients
• Expert in Agile / DevOps principles and practices including automated testing, TDD, CI/CD, and incremental design & architecture.
• Familiarity with the following technologies: Python, Django, RabbitMQ, Firebase, Kubernetes, MQTT
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science and/or Engineering

• Hands-on development of enterprise-level software products
• Experience developing products in the home automation space
• Experience with developing automated home solution in the IoT space
• Preferred experience with large connected devices and distributed systems
