About the Role

As an Embedded Linux Engineering Lead, you will own the development and maintenance of the firmware and hardware for our flagship product line. We are looking for a motivated self-starter with a background in IoT technologies that communicate securely over the public internet. You will be delivering real, immediately impactful products and will be leading a small team in charge of our access control panels, peripheral hardware and associated integrations. The ideal candidate will have a strong embedded C coding background and familiarity with IoT board hardware design. Previous experience with security systems would be an advantage for this position.

This is a technical position that involves people management. 50-75% of the time will be spent on technical work, the rest on team management.

You will also be expected to:

  • Full cycle software development of embedded applications already deployed and those under development.
  • Technical ownership of hardware development lifecycle including requirements definition, design, verification, board bring up, certification support and firmware/hardware integration.
  • Technical liaison between in-house engineering teams and vendors / contract manufacturers.
  • Take pride in and own your code and hardware design.
  • Manage/debug a large network of distributed devices.
  • Lead and manage an Engineering team.

About You

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience
  • BS in Computer Science, EE, or related Field.
  • Ability to lead both technically and with people skills.
  • Proficient in Embedded C/C++ firmware development.
  • Comfortable with developing secure, encrypted communication over the public internet (TLS).
  • Ability to design analog and digital system electronics including component selection, multi-layer PCBs, battery charging circuits.
  • Familiar with RF circuitry and impedance matching networks.
  • Experience working with vendors, manufacturing, diagnostic, firmware, ASIC, and HW etc.
  • Extensive experience with OrCAD or other schematic capture and layout tools.
  • Experience in ARM development.
  • Experience in integrating RF protocols (Zwave preferred, Zigbee, BLE, WIFI).
  • Experience with IOT networking and seamless failover (Ethernet, WIFI, Cellular).
  • Bare metal experience including bootloader implementations (GRUB, UBOOT, etc).
  • Experience with linux (eg kernel customization, network management, peripheral devices, make files, etc).
