The Regional Transportation Authority (RTA), located in downtown Chicago, is currently accepting applications to fill the Applications Administrator position. The RTA oversees financing, secures funding, and conducts transit planning for the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), Metra, and Pace. The RTA manages these three Service Boards’ five-year capital programs. Also, to help riders with disabilities and older adults across Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, and Will counties, the agency issues Reduced Fare and Ride Free permits, assesses eligibility for ADA Paratransit service, and oversees specialized travel training. Under the direction of the Division Manager, Engineering and Technology/PMO, the position ensures the procurement, installation, and support of applications used by the RTA. The Applications Administrator is responsible for user management, application configuration and optimization, technical documentation, software upgrades and migrations, and database administration. The position will coordinate with both internal IT and external resources to provide technical support, resolve incidents, and address project requests.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Maintain software applications by coordinating new software releases, fixes and updates with technical teams and users.

• Manage security at the user level including setting up new users, determining and documenting appropriate permissions and approvals.

• Collaborate with internal system users and business process owners to analyze, develop, implement, and maintain new and improved processes and procedures.

• Troubleshoot and resolve application and user access issues.

• Manage data conversions, SQL databases, reporting, and all other technical aspects of the system.

• Provide support for all interfaces in and out of software applications.

• Develop technical documentation and coordinate implementation activities.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities equivalent to the completion of a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field. Experience with administering a cloud-based Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is desirable and experience with Infor CloudSuite ERP solution is a plus. A minimum of five (5) years of experience supporting software applications delivered through a Software-as-a-Service subscription and in a client/server delivery model. Demonstrate proficiency in Windows Server, SQL Server, and Microsoft 365. Knowledge of software should be sufficient to create applications, install and implement software independently. Have the basic understanding of business processes, including accounting, procurement, talent human resources and demonstrate proficiency in utilization of system analysis techniques to define application requirements is required.

Must have strong problem-solving methodology and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and diverse populations with minimum supervision. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain problems and solutions clearly to end-users in non-technical terms and can work calmly and professionally, customer service oriented with strong interpersonal skills. Must be highly organized, flexible and detail orientated and have the ability to work both independently and in teams. Strong analytical skills coupled with technical creativity and vision. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and balance conflicting demands. Must be able to maintain confidentiality. Work will involve periodic lifting and moving of computer equipment weighing up to 35 pounds as required to install, remove items for service or inventory equipment. This position will also require periodic after hours and weekend duty.

Mid-Point: $91,092

Salary Range: $72,873 to $109,310

Candidates can expect salary offers that range from the minimum to the mid-point of the salary range. RTA provides full pay ranges so candidates can consider their growth potential.
