Essential Functions:

The position of Assistant Manager is integral to Technology Education (TE). With approximately 11 staff (state employees and contractors) and numerous Judiciary software applications requiring daily management, the Assistant Manager position is essential. The TE Assistant Manager assists the TE manager with the day-to-day operations including:

Communicating and providing guidance to TE staff on an ongoing daily basis; assigning work projects to staff; reviewing staff assignments; determining project deadlines; reallocating resources when necessary; and filling in for the TE manager. Additionally, the TE assistant manager serves as primary approver for departmental technical training documentation; manages Judiciary wide technology training projects from start to finish by coordinating with technical personnel and high- ranking Judiciary officials.; serves as initial approver for department travel expense reports and contractor related invoices; and assists the TE manager with all aspects of staffing the Technology Training Subcommittee (which includes creating meeting agendas and talking points, composing status reports for the committee chairperson, etc.).

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Three (3) years of experience in developing, administering, and delivering instructional programs for adults. Two (2) years of experience supervising professional staff.

Note: Professional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of Applications/Software Development environment. Ability to assist the TE manager in developing, implementing, and enforcing standard procedures designed specifically to meet the needs of the unit while incorporating the information systems approach of the organization. Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written), to both technical and non-technical staff to include entry level staff, senior managers, as well as elected and appointed administrative officials. Ability to manage conflict, problem solve, and respond to crises when manager is not available. Ability to supervise and lead staff and contribute to Judicial College leadership team. Skill in excellent oral and written communications.
