Web Application Developer

Reports to: VP & Technology Officer Status: Exempt, Full Time

The Web Application developer is responsible for leading the technical development and maintenance of digital communication and office productivity platforms for the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. These includes the public web sites (with e-commerce functionality), intranet, mobile app, WordPress sites, online storefronts, and video platform (Front Row). This position is the technical support and collaborative partner for internal customers responsible for external communications, including Marketing & Sales, Development, Learning & Community Engagement, and others.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead coding projects for various PSO web sites, both external and internal
• Oversee web development scoping, planning, and technical architecture for UI and WordPress development projects
• Build and support custom applications to support unique business requirements
• Identify and implement process improvement opportunities
• Collaborate with departments, supporting ‘self-service’ actions or determining user requirements, to update relevant web content ensuring cohesion and timeliness using a variety of web technologies including HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
• Monitor production/on-sale schedules and coordinate production of web content accordingly
• Manage on-line e-commerce applications, such as ticketing, donations, PSO app and PSO store
• Manage, design, and optimize our video platform ensuring the best user experience
• Update and maintain all Tessitura-integrated concert e-mail notifications
• Other duties as assigned
• College degree in Information Technology, Computer Programming, or a related field
• 2 to 4 years of web development experience, including working on large-scale web products
• Proficient in SEO/SEM, WordPress, Web project management and strong HTML knowledge
• Knowledge of CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Ajax, and/or other web languages a plus
• Excellent project management skills

• Required Education, Experience & abilities:
• Development and integration with SAAS applications
• Strong familiarity with Microsoft development stack
• Development of Web Services / APIs to facilitate integration of data
• Excellent customer service skills including experience in end user training and support
