*This position may report to one of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission's offices: Turnpike Industrial Park Building (Middletown), Eastern Regional Office (King of Prussia) or Western Regional Office (New Stanton).

Job Purpose and Summary

This position is responsible for managing the efforts of a highly skilled technical staff in providing compute and storage management to maximize and support the use of cloud and data center technologies for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC). Work is performed with considerable independence and reviewed for attainment of program goals and overall performance. Supervision is exercised over internal and external professional responsible for compute and storage management.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Manages, plans, and organizes the Cloud & Data Infrastructure unit’s operations and internal/external staff functions including supervision, performance management, delegation of work assignments and review of work product.

Manages, develops, and executes server technology projects and project plans. Oversees the work performed, ensures funds are properly allocated and reports project status to management.

Manages all aspects of the PTC’s cloud and data center technologies. Ensures the availability of state-of-the-art compute and storage technology solutions as they fit into the organizational strategic enterprise technology plan.

Manages staff who provide day-to-day technical support of the compute and server infrastructure. Provides consultation and guidance for escalated/complex issues and ensures timely resolutions.

Manages cloud based and physical systems to ensure the availability of sufficient storage for the organization’s data requirements.

Develops and implements comprehensive storage and server back-up policies and procedures.

Monitors and evaluates server hardware and software technology to ensure adherence with standards and determine if changes will fit into the organization’s enterprise technical architecture.

Reviews and approves short/long-range strategic plans and the operational/capital budgets for the compute and storage environments.

Coordinates with various departments and managers to ensure an integrated standardized technology environment is achieved and maintained.

Reviews and approves requests for proposals (RFPs) for cloud, compute, and storage related services/systems. Evaluates proposals and makes recommendations. Oversees and monitors contract performance. Ensures specifications and statements of work (SOWs) are met to ensure the efficient and cost-effective delivery of services.

Maintains superior technical knowledge of the PTC’s cloud and data center environments including an in-depth understanding of future directions and technologies related to unit.

Oversees the administration of changes to ensure they are accurately reflected and communicated through the Change Review Board.

Uses situational awareness to anticipate and prevent accidents.

Performs related duties as required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in information technology or business administration. Equivalent combination of experience and/or education may be accepted.

Eight (8) years of experience with network technologies. Equivalent combination of experience and/or education may be accepted. Five (5) of the years of experience must be in a supervisory capacity.
