Boulder Heavy Industries (BHI) is seeking a Director, Software Engineering to lead our small but growing software engineering team. This role will work directly with BHI's portfolio of business units to build top notch software experiences. The ideal candidate must possess a strong entrepreneurial spirit, be analytical, and is comfortable utilizing next generation technology.

A Day in the Life

As the Director of Software Engineering, you are a leader, a curious seeker of adventure, learning, and new opportunities. In this role you will be leading and advancing best practices, setting development standards, reviewing code, and evaluating output of the software engineering team.

You will ensure we deliver quality software in a timely manner. You will be proactively identifying opportunities & challenges, and regularly reporting key results. You will be a cultural leader at BHI - building and developing a team of top tier technical talent that is focused on advancing our software solutions.

· Drive the architecture and lead development of BHI's software across all business units

· Develop best practices for software engineering, release, and quality

· Provide direction, leadership, and coordination for 5 direct reports

· Build and foster a long-term product vision for multiple products

· Hands-on participation in full-stack web application development

· Promote consistency and scalability throughout the software development process

· Lead road-mapping efforts with senior product leadership, goal setting, and regular reporting of progress

· Provide a consultative approach to product roadmap needs. Make recommendations that fit timelines, budgets, available resources, and stakeholder expectations

· Work within a highly collaborative environment, communicating daily with product owners, developers, QA, project managers, and other digital marketing specialists with a Get it Done work ethic

Here's what you need to get our attention

· Bachelor's in Computer Science or related degree or equivalent relevant work experience

· 8+ years proven work experience in a senior software engineering role. 3+ in SaaS

· 3+ years experience managing high-level individual contributors

· Talent for hiring, mentoring, and coaching members of the team

· Ability to project a high level of patience, diplomacy, fortitude, and a strong voice within the organization

· Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

· Excellent communicator, both verbally and written

· In-depth knowledge of software design, data structures, and architecture

· Experience working with React, Gatsby, and/or Next.js

· Experience with Node.js, Python, or Go

· High familiarity with integrating with and implementing APIs

· Experience leading QA teams and automated testing strategies

· Passion to learn new technologies and teach others

· Critical thinker and problem-solving skills

· Ability to adapt to a changing fast paced environment

NOT required but will definitely give you an edge

· AdTech or growth stage software company experience

· AWS or multi-cloud experience

· Working knowledge of storage/database technologies such as NoSQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.

· Experience with CI/CD tools such as AWS CodePipeline or Jenkins

· Experience with container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes

Base Salary: $140-$175 (flexible depending on experience and location)
