The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has an exciting new opportunity within our Information Technology Division. Are you someone who is passionate about cybersecurity and would like to join DNR in this new role? As the Agency’s dedicated cybersecurity expert, you will be responsible to develop and maintain DNR’s Security Program, leading the development, implementation, education, monitoring compliance of security standards, procedures, audits, and incident response.

The Security Architect will have outstanding technical expertise with diverse technical background, excel in customer interactions and engagements. The role requires one to be self-motivated with a proven track record in a senior technical position with the ability to translate this expertise into building credibility and trust with the customers and partners. The qualified candidate must be detail-oriented, able to use independent judgement and juggle diverse responsibilities with shifting priorities.

The Security Architect must possess strong communications skills and be able to communicate professionally in written and verbal styles to technical and non-technical staff. They must be organized, strategic and analytical, with the ability to overcome challenges through creative and adaptive approaches.

DUTIES:

Responsibilities:
Develop, educate and communicate DNR’s Security Program to other technical and non-technical staff.
Lead and conduct security risk assessments/design reviews, maintain and enhance DNR security solutions, tools, and controls, and lead cybersecurity incident response and forensic analysis including acting as DNR point-of-contact to the state Office of Cybersecurity (OCS).
Review, update and develop security standards, policies, processes, and procedures.
Evaluate threat landscape and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
Ensure security policy and procedure compliance.
Lead and develop IT security action plan that ensures confidentiality, integrity and availability of the DNR IT Infrastructure and data.
Mentor and delegate tasks from the security action plan to ITD and non-ITD staff.
Educate technical and non-technical staff on security best practices and procedures.
Have an active role in the DNR COOP and Disaster Recovery Team.
Provide security advice for implementation of systems and applications.
Provide strategic look to cloud technologies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, information systems, or related field. May substitute 8 years of experience for education.
Ten years of professional job experience working with a medium or large sized organization in the areas of security technology, systems administration, cloud infrastructure and/or data management.
Ability to communicate advanced strategic and technical aspects of this security role both verbally and in writing with all levels and audiences.

Our ideal candidate will also have the qualifications listed below:

Security-related certifications, e.g. Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA).
Two years experience as a supervisor, manager or project manager in an IT related field.
Familiarity with commonly accepted IT industry standards and best practices.
