Software Development Manager

Oberon Technologies is looking for a Software Development Manager to join our product team to help us continue to be a solution leader in the Content Delivery/AR/VR/ Training space.

Responsibilities Include:

• Partner with the product management team to help inform the priorities within a set of products, applications, and/or services
• Serves as the anchor of the team and practices overall managerial and technical leadership; helping guide the team in choosing the right technology, solving technical problems, and resolving any technical conflicts within the team

• Manages software engineers who design, build and maintain solutions within a set of technology products and/or services; oversees the translation of business requirements and functional specifications into logical program designs, code modules, stable application systems, and software solutions
• Resolves escalated issues throughout the development, configuration, and modification of integrated business and/or enterprise application solutions
• Creates and/or leads the creation of SOPs, KPIs, and overall operationalization of assigned services or applications
• Hires, trains, and develops talent for growth opportunities; monitors team/individual’s morale and engagement to maintain highly effective and collaborative environments
• Responsible for the overall development and maintenance, and scalability of robust, reliable, and secure business and enterprise software solutions
• Partners with developers and architects to ensure optimal technology solutions are built by the development team
• Influences and establishes best in class engineering/development practices through solid design decisions and tools
• Leads team through all technology solution development phases by ensuring team understands and adheres to company methodology, policies, standards, and controls
• Provides leadership to the team by attracting and hiring talented individuals. This includes setting goals and communicating clear expectations, providing timely and constructive feedback as well as meaningful developmental opportunities, managing performance, providing resources and support as needed, and sponsoring and leading team members through change

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, CIS, or requisite job experience
• 10+years of experience in software engineering or related field
• 3+ years working on project(s) involving the implementation of software development life cycles (SDLC)
• 5+years of development management experience including leading project or technical teams with or without formal direct report responsibility; this includes experience providing technical direction, thought leadership, coaching, and mentoring to team members

• Hands on management experience in architecting, designing, implementing, and delivering large scale distributed systems and/or applications for the cloud, including microservices architectures
• Experience and knowledge in managing the development of REST APIs including tooling for versioning, service discovery/registration, testing and management; experience using API gateways a plus
• Understanding of different software programming languages, and demonstrated ability to quickly learn new languages, including but not limited to, Java (Spring), Python, and Golang

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience and knowledge in web and API security including authentication, authorization, OAuth, OWASP, OpenID, and SAML
  
  
• Experience in backend development design and implementation; database (Mongo), understanding of Content Management and delivery solutions.
  
  
• Knowledge and advanced experience using distributed version control systems (git), artifact management systems, build and packaging systems (maven) and continuous integration tools (Jenkins)
