Vice President of Engineering (Remote Position)

Nava is looking for their next Vice President of Engineering to lead the and grow the Engineering organization. Nava is a public benefit corporation with a social mission written into their founding charter. THE JOB

The VP of Engineering reports directly to the Chief Delivery Officer and oversees a staff of approximately 100 dedicated engineers. The VP leads the vision and strategy for an engineering organization that designs, builds, launches, and operates public sector digital services, products, and infrastructure at large scale, often under legislative and public scrutiny. This position leads the modernization of legacy systems and the delivery of critical public services and infrastructure that serves vulnerable populations, transforming services to be more accessible, dependable, applicable, and user friendly. The VP of Engineering will be an expert at delivering high quality, effective, and scalable technology solutions to our public sector clients, with a demonstrated ability to quickly identify and address opportunities for improvement, modernization, and efficiency.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate will be passionate about radically improving our government and is looking to have a direct impact on the direction and success of Nava. Successful applicants will be empathetic, strategic and driven, while being excellent communicators and collaborators who successfully build relationships across the organization and with clients. The VP of Engineering will understand the difference between delivering a product and delivering a service, with a focus on continuous improvement and developing solutions from a holistic viewpoint.

Preferred Experience:

  • 10+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience, including 3+ years as a senior partner or engineering executive,
  • Experience in systems and enterprise architecture with an Agile/Waterfall framework.

Desirable:

  • Prior experience working in, or with, public sector agencies.
  • Experience scaling organizations to 200 staff and beyond.

  • Residency: Lived in United States at least 3 years out of the last 5 years
  • While this position is remote, the selected candidate must live in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, DC, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Tennessee, Virginia, or Washington.
  • Clearance: Able to attain and maintain Public Trust clearance or higher (An active green card or citizenship is required).
