Join a dynamic and growing electric cooperative and support our information technology securities efforts and pave the way for new IT projects! We are looking for an experienced IT professional to accept the challenge of implementing new technologies and supporting our IT Team and our employees.
The ideal candidate must be a critical and strategic thinker, driven, problem-solver, who is collaborative and able to continuously improve our information security and technologies throughout Choctawhatchee Electric Cooperative (CHELCO).
As an IT Project Engineer, you would:
- Ensure compliance with security goals and policies. In addition, ensures the cooperative meets compliance concerning data protection with state and federal regulations.
- Ensure proper security of CHELCO’s databases and servers.
- Evaluate, analyze, and implement the cooperative’s IT systems, securities, and new projects for all of its offices.
- Maintain integration between mission-critical software applications.
- Work with partner vendors on software issues and updates.
- Create and monitor the IT Work Plan.
- Assist CHELCO’s Information Technology Team and the employees.
- Assist with reviewing and revising the cooperative’s technology plan.
Position Requirements
The ideal candidate will have the following:
A high school diploma and ten years of related experience; or an Associate’s Degree in a related field and at least six years of related experience; or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least three years of related experience; or a Master’s Degree in a related field and at least two years of related experience. CompTIA A+, CISSP, and other IT professional certifications are preferred.
Must also have previous knowledge of and experience in:
- Infrastructure Support/Network Security— Knowledge of infrastructure support, network security, and network monitoring. Including electronic equipment, computer hardware, and software, including applications and programming.
- Computers and Electronics — Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Operating Systems — Expanded Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Operating Systems from a programmer and user aspects.
- Customer Service— knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. Including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Fluency of Ideas — The ability to come up with several ideas about a topic.
- English Language — Ability to converse with internal and/or external customers in English.

Must meet criteria to obtain access credentials for the U.S. government installations included in the Eglin AFB Utility Privatization contract.
The normal workweek is 7:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday thru Friday. The position mainly reports to the CHELCO Headquarters building in DeFuniak Springs but may be required to report to any CHELCO service locations. With the exception of STD/LTD/FMLA & approved time off, attendance at a designated worksite location is considered essential.
