Summary: SEIU Local 1021 is seeking a talented technologist who will be the primary union intelligence staff leader and subject matter expert responsible for expanding, designing, optimizing, and further defining the capabilities of the union's Member Resource Center (MRC) data ecosystem. The Coordinator is responsible for the overall direction of the MRC's union intelligence program, partnering with key leaders across the union to develop the strategic direction of the program and ensure stakeholder satisfaction with the deliverables.

The Coordinator will lead the union intelligence roadmap that will expand the union’s Member Resource Center technology infrastructure by integrating with our community partners’ systems, commercial data mining sources, and other vendor partnerships as means to achieve a seamless user experience for our union members. This work will directly impact the union’s mission to grow the labor movement. This is a professional program manager-level position and is subject to the direction of the union’s IT Director.

Essential Responsibilities: The Information Systems Coordinator's primary responsibility is to plan, administer and lead the union's MRC union intelligence program. The duties listed below are representative of the position:

  • Formulate and implements the MRC’s union intelligence (UI) program goals, objectives, plans, work standards, policies, procedures, and systems
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce UI architectural guidance documents
  • Supervise and hold accountable data analysts and staff assigned to work on various UI projects
  • Develop and oversee the program’s budget
  • Identify areas to elevate the user experience and increase stakeholder adoption of the program
  • Design and pilot new UI capabilities (e.g., ways to approach and analyze data, machine learning, software, data insights). Integrate, evolve, and scale proven UI capabilities and retire current low-impact and unsupported UI capabilities
  • Provide guidance and administrative support to employees and members for the Local's member engagement channels (CallHub, MailChimp, Purple Text, SurveyMonkey, Swift, and mobile applications)
  • Lead, coordinate, and conduct UI program training and feedback sessions with stakeholders and union members
  • Develop and implement UI staff development plans that increase our staff's UI capacity and adoption of the UI program
  • Assist the IT Director in establishing a central and accurate member database system that will serve as the union’s "single version of truth”
  • Partner with technology vendors to ensure system infrastructure, accessibility and technical standards are in accordance with program requirements
  • Use metrics, internal feedback, and best practices to monitor operations, resources, and effectiveness of the MRC UI program
  • Liaise with other SEIU Locals, SEIU International, and internal union departments on the MRC UI program
  • Introduce and integrate UI and data insights to achieve organizational objectives
  • Analyze complex technical and operational service issues, evaluating alternative solutions and adopting effective courses of action
  • Prepare interactive dashboards and clear, concise, relevant documentation

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of experience leading and managing complex Business Intelligence platform projects
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience with common BI tools, such as Tableau, Qlik view, SAP, Microsoft Power BI
  • Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office, databases, web-based applications
  • Maintain the highest level of integrity, judgment, confidentiality, and discretion in leading and managing information and resources
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A keen eye for details and aptitude for working with data
  • Strong project and process management skills.
  • Capable of working in a team environment demonstrating good written and communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and autonomously
  • Ability to interact professionally with culturally and linguistically diverse staff
  • Commitment to racial, gender, and economic justice and their intersections, both inside and outside organizations.

Preferred Experience:

  • 2+ years of labor union or non-profit experience
  • Prior supervisory experience

Driving Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid California driver's license; pass a DMV check, and have a good driving record
  • Have auto insurance that covers business driving (minimum of $100,000 per person/$300,000 per incident bodily injury liability/$50,000 property coverage); and must possess an automobile for business use.

Salary and Benefits: Salary starts at $111,144.50 and is based on qualifications and experience. SEIU Local 1021 offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits package.
