We are currently looking for a freelance developer to update and maintain our client’s long-standing websites.

About the Client and Websites

Our client's websites (www.aidsvu.org and www.hepvu.org)are both an interactive online mapping tool that visualizes the impact of the HIV and hepatitis on communities across the United States to increase disease awareness and promote data-driven public health decision-making. The site utilizes data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), local health departments, and other high-quality sources to allow users to explore the HIV epidemic at the state-, county-, and ZIP Code-levels. The maps visualize HIV/hepatitis-related data by race/ethnicity, sex, age, and transmission category, and shows how HIV is related to various social determinants of health, such as high school education, poverty, and housing.

The sites allow users to locate services for HIV/hepatitis prevention, testing, and care, and also includes NIH-funded HIV prevention, vaccine, and treatment trial locations. One of the sites also has data pages with profiles for nearly 45 U.S. cities, 48 counties with the highest burden of new HIV diagnoses 50 states, DC, Puerto Rico, 4 regions, and the nation, offering easy-to-understand, printable snapshots that summarize the impact of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.

About the Team

This client team is composed of a core communications team within Signal that works directly with the client and research partners and helps to prioritize different updates and launches with each of the sites. The site is managed by a lead project manager who communicates directly with the developer and a freelance designer who makes decisions on updates to the look and feel of the site.
