POSITION DESCRIPTION /

Tangram Flex, Inc. is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer with at least 2 years of experience in the construction of systems and system components from sub-system components. Embedded systems experience within the Department of Defense or as a contractor to the DoD is preferred. The candidate will work hands-on with software on embedded systems.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES /

Embedded Software Engineers are the primary technical resource for customer engagements, and are responsible for actively driving and managing the program technology. As the key technical advisor and solution advocate, the Embedded Software Engineer must be able to identify and provide reliable solutions for all technical issues to assure complete customer satisfaction. Embedded Software Engineers must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the program lifecycle.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and test embedded software in relevant languages (ex. C++/Java/Rust).
  • Provide design and development support to internal and external resources.
  • Perform technical support and product use guidance for customer engineers.
  • Plan and execute software design and analysis including documentation, testing, and general programming.
  • Support system testing and system performance analysis.
  • Analyze, develop, and recommend design approaches to meet requirements for new or improved products and/or processes.
  • Analyzing and enhancing efficiency, stability and scalability of system resources.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, systems engineers, and other stakeholders on system characteristics, design, and requirements.
  • Maintain a high level of understanding around Tangram Pro™ and its application within a customer environment.
  • Embody Tangram’s vision, mission, guiding principles, processes and core values.

Additional:

  • Contribute to building Tangram’s software products, customer systems, and demonstration systems.
  • Articulate technical concepts to both business and technical users.
  • Listen, understand, and convey customer requirements to engineering teammates, product management, sales / business development, and others.
  • Resolve customer issues or difficulties in a manner that is consistent with the company mission, values, and financial objectives of the company.
  • Maintain professional business relationships.
  • Provide status of ongoing and future projects.
  • Present technical findings and support customer demonstrations.
  • Participate in sprint reviews, planning, and integration events.

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE /Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, technical field, or equivalent successful experience in a similar industry role.
  • Possess the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in engineering or software development working collaboratively as part of a high functioning team.
  • Hands-on experience with software on embedded systems.
  • Experience working in or with the Department of Defense or DoD contractors.
  • Deep experience with C, C++, Java, or Object Oriented Design.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

Preferred:

  • M.S. in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Existing U.S. Government Security Clearance.
  • Understanding and/or interest in Open Architectures and relevant DoD standards such as OMS or FACE.
  • Familiarity and interest with UAV or autonomous systems and relevant formats (ex. MAVLink).
  • Familiarity or interest with Software Defined Radios (i.e., GNURadio, REDHAWK), digital signal processing (DSP), or FPGA design and programming (i.e., VHDL, Simulink, LabView).
  • Hands-on experience with building systems and system components from sub-system components.
  • Familiarity with Software Test and Assurance Approaches (i.e., Unit Testing, Static Analysis, Fuzz Testing, Symbolic Execution).
  • Working knowledge and/or interest in Docker, Java, GoLang, Rust, Haskell, etc.
  • A solid understanding of network communications technology.
  • Familiarity with software simulation tools and test frameworks such as AFSIM.
  • Customer service and sales support experience.
  • Proven technology program delivery experience.
  • Availability to travel.
