Recyclist is seeking that rare individual who is both a total people person and major tech geek. The Engineering Manager will serve as a leader and mentor for a team of data engineers and product engineers, as well as the primary point person on all things technology, both on a day-to-day and long-term strategic basis. Key to this position will be a focus on fostering a collaborative team environment, managing data and system integrity across multiple applications, and continuously improving technology processes and procedures. The Engineering Manager must be highly organized, with the ability to both collaborate and delegate. They are also an outstanding communicator, especially around priorities, timelines, challenges and successes. This is a product-centric role: the Engineering Manager will work hands-on on the actual product, and will lead a team whose ultimate goal is development of the best possible product for Recyclist customers.

Responsibilities:

• Lead data engineers in the collaborative, continual effort to improve the efficiency, accuracy and standardization of data processing
• Lead product engineers in writing and optimizing Deluge code on the Zoho Creator platform
• Collaborate with the product team to achieve the best possible results for Recyclist customers, including development and deployment of core features, customizations and bug fixes
• Represent technology operations in the company-wide planning of scaling Recyclist’s solutions to maximize impact and achieve triple-bottom-line goals
• Serve as administrator for master database and develop long-term strategies for managing a high volume of data
• Develop and implement data integrity practices
• Oversee ongoing creation and updating of documentation, ensuring that it’s clear, concise and comprehensive
• Monitor ongoing developments with the Zoho Creator platform and respond accordingly
• Take ownership of Recyclist’s tech stack and related operations, systems, tools, and practices
• Provide technical leadership for selection and development of internal systems/ERP
• Assist with selection and management of IT/security vendor(s) and practices, and ensure adherence to security policies across the product & technology teams
• Facilitate and ensure ongoing education and professional development for data engineers and product engineers

Job Requirements:

• 5-10+ years experience in web/software/data engineering
• Experience working on web-based B2B, B2C and/or B2G products
• Experience managing others in a collaborative team setting
• Experience with data cleansing and analysis
• Experience with scripting languages
• Working knowledge of SQL, Python, HTML, CSS
• Experience translating business requirements into applications
• Understanding of agile development methodologies
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment while paying close attention to detail
• Outstanding team-working abilities and high moral compass
• Exceptional judgement, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
• Ability and desire to take the initiative to create an environment of continuous improvement
• Self-motivating and results-driven

Preferred Experience:

• Experience with ETL processes
• Specific knowledge of PostgreSQL
• Experience with Deluge (Zoho’s proprietary scripting language)
• Database administration experience
• Experience with Pivotal Tracker or other agile project management tools
• Experience scaling a product in a high-growth environment
• Knowledge of WordPress and basic web server administration
