How can you identify the right social media KPIs?
Each social media platform has its own purpose and there are unwritten rules about how to engage with your customers on each platform. The one unwritten rule that is most overlooked is that it's okay to break the rules. In fact, it can be massively advantageous to do so. For example, we're all familiar with retargeting ads on Facebook and Instagram for a top or a pair of shoes we thought about buying. I have never seen those retargeting ads on LinkedIn's social media platform, but that doesn't mean they don't belong there. In fact, it may be an opportunity. Some will say that those ads are intrusive on a social media platform where people go to network, but I'd recommend running a test. What do you have to lose?

How can you identify the right social media KPIs?
Data privacy laws are becoming more strict which makes tracking and revenue attribution harder to manage. Before you create any KPIs, it's important to understand your baseline metrics. How often are you posting, what does your engagement look like, what does your engagement with your target audience look like? Look at your competitors too. What is their average engagement and post rate? Once these questions are answered, it will be much easier for you to conduct an impactful social media campaign.
