Position Overview: The UX Designer will report to Director of IT. This resource will lead user research, stakeholder interviews and conduct surveys to design functionality and features of applications. UX designer will collaborate with business analysts and program staff to translate requirements, user ideas into user-centric interface design, communicates the design to developers using wireframes, mockups and other artifacts.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Make strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core, and new, functions and features.
  • Capture and document user requirements, site design analysis/decision and solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills
  • Effectively communicate technical issues and status to technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Provides training sessions and over the shoulder support to internal and external customers.
  • Identify and learn appropriate software and hardware used and supported by the organization
  • Must have desire to learn new skills and work with new technologies with a keen attention to detail.
  • Build rapport and elicit problem details from users.
  • Values diversity of talents, skills and backgrounds that others bring to the team.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Understanding, knowledge and expertise of Agile methodology
  • Experience developing wireframes and prototypes around customer needs.
  • Strong presentation skills to business stakeholders.
  • Must have knowledge of IT business and information environments and be able to implement recommended improvements to the website & applications design in support business environments.
  • Technical experience with applications, application development, and design.
  • Hands on experience with Software Lifecycle development activities and documentation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills
  • Effectively communicate technical issues and status to technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment, as well as work independently.
  • Must have desire to learn new skills and work with new technologies with a keen attention to detail.
  • Participate in audit activities as needed including review and remediation.
  • Ability to work after hours and on-call weekend rotation
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks without much supervision.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation.

Required Qualifications:

Formal Education and Certification:

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science or a related field and/or 5+ years’ equivalent work experience.
  • Certifications to include tools and knowledge related to web design and development.

Technology Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experience with various browsers.
  • Experience with 508 compliance.
  • Experience with HTML, JavaScript, and HTML 5.
  • Experience with UX design tools like Sketch, InVision, FlowMap, Balsamiq
  • Examples of previous work is a plus.
