ABOUT YOU: You are a software development leader who can architect software solutions, mentor junior staff, develop complex functionality, and interact with product, design, and other business leaders.

ABOUT US: We believe every child with autism deserves the best services available so they can live full, productive, and rewarding lives in their community. At The New England Center for Children (NECC), we provide comprehensive services for children with autism: home-based, day, and residential programs, partner classrooms in public school systems, consulting services, and autism curriculum software for teachers.

We also know that to serve as many children with autism as possible, we must reach beyond our own walls. We have created the ACE (Autism Curriculum Encyclopedia) to support teachers. ACE is a software as a service web solution, which is currently being used by thousands of teachers with over 8000 students worldwide. We are looking to take the ACE to new heights and need talented software developers to join our team.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS: The individual we are looking for is a quick thinker, enthusiastic, and passionate about the web and software-as-a-service. As a technical leader, you will be both hands-on developing and helping lead the development team. We are re-imagining our advanced educational product - the ACE (Autism Curriculum Encyclopedia) and we need a senior Java architect/developer to support the team and lead our most complex features and functionality.

  • 10+ years actively developing SaaS applications, including a number of Java-based web applications - current technologies we use include: Java, play framework, Hibernate, Percona MySQL, AngularJS, as well as a bunch of other fun stuff
  • Equally adept at both designing/developing and leading other developers to deliver scalable, robust software solutions. Full stack developer preferred.
  • Strong experience with cloud infrastructure providers and container solutions (Docker and Kubernetes)
  • Experience designing, developing robust third-party APIs, and Reporting solutions a plus
  • As a mission-driven organization, high value is placed on team members with a commitment to helping NECC impact the lives of as many individuals with autism as we can.
  • Familiarity and experience with the Agile methodology (Kanban) is a must.

Currently, work is performed in a hybrid arrangement with a combination of remote work and on-site work at NECC’s Southborough, MA headquarters. Must relocate or reside locally, relocation reimbursement is not available. this is an immediate start opportunity. Must be authorized to work in the US; we are not able to sponsor work visas for this role.
