Senior Software Engineer

We work closely with our clients, developing highly customized data-driven software to address their most pressing marketing and advertising challenges.

As a Senior Software Engineer at Known, you can expect to work on a wide variety of projects. You’ll join small, highly focused teams, where you’ll have the opportunity to significantly influence the direction of our products, team practices, and the company’s broader technical culture!

Our work is project-driven and data-first. You’ll constantly be learning new skills and developing expertise in industry-leading technologies! Whether it’s Airflow or Dask for ETL, Vue for UI, Postgres or MongoDB as the databases backing an API, or Redshift, Snowflake, Presto and Spark for big data, each project offers new challenges.

We primarily use Python (3!) on the backend and TypeScript for the frontend. Most of our infrastructure is cloud-based (AWS), and we make heavy use of Docker and container orchestrators for deployment. We strive to implement practices like CI/CD, environment parity, and testing. Finally, we actively promote open source projects internally; check out pytest-mock-resources and pytest-alembic our in-house custom pytest plugins!

What You'll Do

• Work with data scientists and product managers on a wide variety of products and projects that span the marketing and advertising industries across both television and digital
• Build full-stack web applications, heavy-duty ETL pipelines, APIs that integrate with predictive models, and everything in between
• Play an active role in designing and building new, cutting edge products

You Have

• Excellent communication skills
• Equal comfort operating as a high-level individual contributor and a team leader
• A drive to improve engineering practices within an organization
• Approximately 5+ years experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• High proficiency with Python
• Experience with SQL,relational, and massively parallel databases
• Experience with Docker. (Kubernetes is a plus)
• Experience with Airflow and ETL is a plus
• Experience with big data technologies like Presto and Spark is a plus
