The Michigan Municipal League (the League) is seeking an experienced Manager of Information Technology to join our IT/Operations team. The approximate starting salary range for this position is $80,000 - $90,000 depending on qualifications. The selected candidate will play a critical role in the League’s IT department, helping to select, implement and maintain new organizational applications and systems such as an association management system (AMS/CRM), grant management, and other applications. Working closely with the department director, the Manager of IT will lead small teams of individuals (League employees and contractors) to achieve departmental goals and priorities. If you were working for us, here are just some things you would do:
- Build business case and recommendations as input into vendor analysis and software selection to meet the growing technology needs of the Michigan Municipal League.
- Work closely with League staff to revamp the functional design and development of the League’s website, mml.org.
- Help develop a standardized approach to enable League staff with the data and data analysis required to support their decision-making leveraging technologies such as Tableau, MS Access and SQL.
- Determine and document standard technology operating procedures in an ever-evolving technology landscape.
- Take a leading role in designing and supporting application training for fellow staff, ranging from large-group presentations to one-on-one meetings.
- Support the League’s network specialist in special projects as required.
- Bachelors degree and/or at least 5+ years of related IT experience with a desired minimum of 2 years of supervisory or team lead experience. Additional education and or professional certifications preferred.
- Experience creating/editing/documenting with MS SQL Server, Crystal Reports, MS Access or other similar programs.
- Working knowledge of website programming languages (php, ASP.NET) and database integrations. Wordpress knowledge a plus.
- Experience with standard software development approaches (e.g. Agile methodology, waterfall methodology)
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Take a leading role in designing and supporting application training for fellow staff, ranging from large-group presentations to one-on-one meetings.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively lead and complete projects within deadlines.
