Application Administrator

Over the next five years, CRST International, Inc. will be implementing significant enterprise wide system and software upgrades. In support of this project, and of future needs, we are expanding our personnel and adding new positions within our Information Technology team, located in Cedar Rapids, IA or Birmingham, AL. We are seeking new IT skills and resources in the areas of business process analyst, 3rd party software administration and software development. Job Summary

The Application Administrator studies an organization’s computer systems, procedures and design information systems solutions to help the organization operate more efficiently and effectively. They bring business and information technology (IT) together by understanding the needs and limitations of both. This position is the subject matter expert on system configuration and implementation of 3rd party solutions at CRST.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Collaborate with business analysts and vendors to design & implement business processes in 3rd party solutions
  • Design and optimization of workflows of business processes to translate into system requirements & configurations
  • Create business process functionality through software configuration and integrations
  • Oversee the configuration of new systems to insure fit & function for the organization
  • Workflow and process requirements development, configuration and implementation of complex application systems
  • Subject matter expert in supporting, maintaining, and administering applications. This is a hands on senior technical position
  • Collaborate with hardware, OS, DBA technical teams to ensure proper integration of the environment
  • Liaise with vendor support on issues
  • Responsible for problem management activities such as issue resolution, root cause analysis and continuous system improvement plans
  • Create and document software configurations
  • Determine, implement, and evaluate metrics and performance of implemented system designs. Maintain SLA, System Availability, Capacity management, and Performance KPI
  • Software quality assurance, unit and functional test execution

Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience of systems analysis for IT projects
  • Critical/structured thinking and problem solving skills
  • Prior IT system configuration, development and analysis experience
  • Creativity
  • Experience in failover, high availability, disaster recovery, business continuance practices
  • Previous experience in version control systems & tools
  • Prior experience in process automation and the configuration of work flow engines or solutions
  • Knowledge and demonstrated troubleshooting abilities
  • Strong customer service and problem solving skills
  • Active listening skills
  • Quality assurance testing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a business or technology discipline or equivalent professional experience
  • Proven working experience in systems analysis & configuration project initiatives
  • IT systems design or architecture
  • Trucking / transportation IT experience
