SUMMARY

The CMOOR Group is looking for a Web Developer to help create and maintain modules for its proprietary SUTRA Learning Management System and other proprietary products. The perfect candidate will have at least two years PHP 7 / MYSQL (LAMP) development, along with CodeIgniter experience and additional web development systems in his/her repertoire. We seek a developer who can quickly create lean, clean, standards-based PHP code with the ability to quickly learn a new, complex system. From time to time, CMOOR will use other development platforms for client projects, so any demonstrable programming experience is a plus.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with IT and design teams to implement new modules and new instances of SUTRA, The CMOOR Group’s highly customizable Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Aid in the design, implementation, testing, documenting, and supporting of modules for a world-wide LMS using PHP 5, PHP 7, MySQL, CodeIgniter, HTML, JavaScript, AJAX (jQuery), web services, etc.
  • Work with IT team to further refine the core code base.
  • Collaborate closely with IT management / product management to implement new features in the LMS, to customize modules for clients and to ensure SUTRA remains a robust cloud-based, web application.
  • Design for high-traffic / high-performance / cross-browser compatibility.
  • Diagnose problems and take remedial action or recommend procedural change.
  • Assist in implementation of SCORM-compliant modules.
  • Assist in future enhancements and revisions of the SUTRA LMS.
  • Establish appropriate system safeguards and controls to maintain data integrity.
  • Provide tech support, when required, to internal departments and external clients.
  • Stay abreast of current technologies and suggest ways of how they may enhance CMOOR products.
  • Effectively document code and systems designs.
  • Research development tools and make recommendations for use within application development processes and procedures.
  • Assist in creating detailed functional specifications for new products and existing product enhancements.
  • Coordinate project-based work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Applicant must be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, procedures, and development tools. You must be able to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. You will perform a variety of complicated tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected in your work. You are expected to review your work for quality and accuracy. You must have strong communication skills, be a self-starter and self-motivator, and be able to work well with others. You must be able to provide very accurate project timeline estimates and meet deadlines.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • At least two years PHP/MySQL development, including object-oriented PHP programming, 3+ years web development experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in software development field or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of web server environments, specifically Apache on FreeBSD, Linux, IIS on Windows.
  • Experience with JavaScript/DOM, HTML 5, PHP 7
  • Proficiency with AJAX methodologies, such as jQuery and other client-side technologies.
  • Proficiency with CSS.
  • Experience with Adobe/Macromedia products (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, etc.).
  • Experience creating / using web services (SOAP, etc) a plus.
  • Experience with any other web languages a plus (JAVA, .NET, Python, etc.).
  • Strong enough to voice your opinions and contribute your ideas, but flexible enough to accept final decisions.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and other business applications.
  • Projects require willingness to work a flexible schedule and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Dedication to quality.
  • Ability to learn and work in a highly technical environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work and rare overnight travel.
