About the Role
As the Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer on our embedded development team, you will be responsible for creating and executing test plans used to ensure highest levels of quality for our hardware products and all software supporting the manufacturing and automated testing of the hardware/firmware.
To be successful in this role, you must have in-depth knowledge of the latest quality assurance and quality control procedures and practices in software development.
In this Embedded QA role, you will be responsible for:
- Collaborating with product teams to proactively define and maintain test plans and testing specifications for functional, regression, and performance testing
- Monitoring release quality and making recommendations regarding risks and stability of new features
- Overseeing the development of test plans, lead testing, triage, hardware and software diagnoses with the team and across teams and escalations from tech support
- Assisting in shaping the overall QA process by suggesting improvements, best practices, and new approaches to testing workflows
- Continuous learning and improvement of development and quality strategies
- Fostering a DevOps culture and product ownership amongst team
- Overseeing the development of test plans, lead testing, triage, hardware and software diagnoses with the team and across teams and escalations from tech support
About You
- 3-5 years of experience with software quality assurance, including both automated and manual test strategies
- Experience with the following:
- CI/CD practices, such as automated tests, builds, and deployments
- Documenting testing results and working with software developers to resolve the findings
- Thorough working knowledge of the entire SDLC, IT systems and processes, testing methodologies, and their direct implementation to projects
- Hands-on experience with various lab equipment, such as digital multimeters, mixed signal oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers is preferred
- Experience with testing & validation in one or more of the following areas: RF validation (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Cellular), Power supply (VAC, VDC), IP Cameras, Audio, Input device validation (keyboard & capacitive touch screen), I/O devices
- Experience with networking protocols such as TCP/IP, IPv6, DHCP
- Experience with testing & troubleshooting over communication buses such as CAN, RS485 and RS232 (serial), TCP/IP (wiresharking)
- Experience with scripting languages such as BASH, Python for automated testing of repetitive tasks and performance data gathering
- Familiarity with JSON, C and Java and how these interact with relational databases
- Ability to learn newer Behavior Driven Development (BDD) testing frameworks like Gherkin and cucumber
- Hands-on experience with linux /unix systems and devops tools: kubernetes, bitbucket, jira, artifactory
- Oversee the development of test plans, lead testing, triage, hardware and software diagnoses with the team and across teams and escalations from tech support
