Independently analyze, identify, develop and communicate technical solutions. Devise and/or modify procedures to solve complex technical problems.

Job-Specific Responsibilities

The Application Analyst is a member of the ITS Business Solutions team and helps lead IT projects in support of the academic and administrative needs of the Harvard Law School community. The successful candidate will thrive in a nimble, Agile project environment, enjoy working directly with our business partners, and be comfortable moving between technologies based on business requirements and emerging trends.

  • Build positive relationships with clients and team members to promote effective communications on project objectives and execution
  • Work with clients to help evaluate and improve business processes
  • Develop initial project requirements in the form of user stories and a product backlog
  • Author and lead presentations, enabling senior leadership to understand the scope and objectives of the project, and assess the costs and value of implementing the solution
  • Lead Agile Scrum ceremonies, such as backlog grooming, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, demos, and retrospectives
  • Act as liaison to vendors during implementation, ensuring that vendors are aligned with project objectives and plans
  • Identify, analyze and mitigate internal and external project risks
  • Participate in integrated system testing for project releases
  • Perform hands-on application configuration tasks during implementation and operations
  • Triage bugs with clients, to ensure accurate detail and prioritization
  • Document system and operational processes

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years' post-secondary education and/or relevant work experience


Additional Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree preferred

  • Strong client consulting skills, with ability to work with diverse technical and non-technical clients

  • Experience implementing projects via iterative methodologies, such as Agile/Scrum

  • Ability to effectively influence project team and stakeholders through clearly stated objectives and plans

  • Demonstrated service mindset approach, and the ability to act as a trusted advisor

  • Familiarity with techniques for identifying project risks, and developing mitigation plans

  • Proven ability to learn new technologies quickly

  • Proficient in project productivity tools, such as PowerPoint and Excel, as well as Agile management tools, such as Microsoft Azure DevOps, Trello, etc.

  • Proven analytical, problem solving and organizational skills

  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple requests

  • Ability to accept constructive feedback, and act on it
