The SEO Manager will join the team responsible for maintaining and optimizing Boston Globe Media’s digital product portfolio, including BostonGlobe.com and Boston.com. The role will work closely with a tightly-knit, cross-disciplinary group of product managers, designers, developers, analysts, as well as key circulation, advertising, and editorial staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a SEO strategy for the digital properties including bostonglobe.com and boston.com
  • Own the SEO roadmap and define the tactics to achieve the SEO strategy
  • Define and grow SEO Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Continually audit the sites, monitor activity and site health, analyze performance, identify areas of opportunity and recommend ways to drive traffic and improve KPIs
  • Work across multiple SEO functions including keyword, rank-tracking, content optimization, link-building, taxonomy, and technical improvements
  • Work closely with the product development, social, and editorial team to execute the SEO roadmap
  • Report on results through dashboards and regular updates
  • Partner with the social and editorial teams to review results and iteratively test new SEO tactics
  • Keep up-to-date with trends and drive best practices with the team

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance, Business, Statistics, Engineering, or Math
  • 3-5 years SEO experience with a demonstrable track record of results
  • Experience with SEO technical SEO tools such as Screaming Frog, Majestic, Ahrefs, Moz, SEMrush, Lighthouse, and Google Search Console
  • Deep understanding and experience implementing best practices
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Technically proficient (some knowledge of HTML and design tools such as InVision)
  • Deep understanding of how to analyze data using analytics tools such as Excel, Chartbeat, and Omniture
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and comfortable presenting results to senior stakeholders
  • Passion for news, digital media, and how people consume content online
