Account Executive
Seeking an Account Executive with 5+ years of solid experience as an Account Executive or Account Director with a history of creating value for partners and helping partners grow their businesses through online media campaigns and event sponsorships. TechCrunch and Engadget product offerings include branded content, native placements, event sponsorships, banner media, mobile media, social media offerings, TechCrunch and Engadget lookalike audiences on the Verizon Media network, as well as TechCrunch and Engadget audience extensions across the Verizon Media network. This wide range of products fosters the development of custom campaigns that tightly fit client KPIs in a way that few publishers, if any, can offer. Our unique array of products will allow you to build programs that can fit large and small marketing budgets and will appeal to a wide range of marketing objectives. Account Executives will also have the opportunity to build a new book of business leveraging the strong brands of TechCrunch and Engadget while maintaining and supporting a current book of business. This is an exciting and rare opportunity to join a team that is passionate about startups, investing, technology, and the people that make it all happen.
Responsibilities:
- Cultivate new business and devise strategies to grow major accounts
- Conduct high quality research to find new clients that align with TechCrunch and Engadget audiences
- Prospect to bring in new business through email, social media outreach, phone calls, and event attendance as well as any other channels at your disposal
- Respond quickly and intelligently to all inbound inquiries
- Collaborate cross functionally to build creative, compelling digital media and event campaigns for our clients
- Create exciting sales proposals and presentations for our clients
- Conduct succinct and engaging client meetings
- Conduct thorough and efficient sales cycles
- Effectively and efficiently close contracts
- Advocate for and protect our client’s interest while maintaining value for TechCrunch and Engadget
- Be a team player
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of account executive experience at major online media outlet, broadcast company, or other media distribution channel
- Firm understanding of digital media including reserved products, native products, branded content, and network products
- Existing client relationships, both brand direct and with agencies
- Be extroverted, able to build and maintain new relationships
- Strong follow up skills, must be able to see projects from start to finish and follow through on all communications
- BA/BS degree, MBA a plus
- Creative thinking
- Ability to manage workflows independently
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal partners (providing real time updates in CRM, timely communication via email, and effective presentations at internal meetings)
- Proven and demonstrable track record of outperforming
- Be comfortable closing 6 and 7 figure deals
- Willingness to travel
- An even-keeled attitude and high-level effort that doesn’t waiver
- Experience selling event sponsorships a plus
- Familiarity with startups, the startup ecosystem, and the technology community
- Be a team player
