The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC), America’s first superhighway, is seeking an individual to join our Information Technology team as the Senior Network Engineer! Our mission is to operate a safe, reliable, customer-valued toll road system that supports national mobility and commerce. The PTC operates a 552-mile system used by 194 million vehicles a year. The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for monitoring communication systems/network technologies to identify and address issues in performance, quality and effectiveness, ensuring a high-quality communication transmission for the PTC. Together, we are building the highway of the future!

Responsibilities

• Leads and supports lower-level staff involved with the administration of communications infrastructure. May supervise internal staff functions including performance management, delegation of work assignments and review of work product. Leads/supervises the efforts of external contractors/consultants supporting assigned projects and performing day-to-day communication services.

• Monitors communication systems/network technologies operations and performance to identify problems and minimize downtime. This includes, but is not limited to, status monitoring, capacity optimization, error elimination, security vulnerability redaction and upgrades.

• Identifies communication system-oriented problems and acts as a Tier-3 responder for communication system-oriented problem determination and directs/implements corrective action plans, including problem bypass or recovery procedures.

• Functions as the technical lead or subject matter expert on assigned IT projects. Corresponds and provides input with project managers concerning project tasks, scheduling and technical aspects of the effort. Ensures project objectives and schedules are being met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, electrical engineering or related communications field.

• Six (6) years of technical experience in communication systems/network technologies design, development, construction, implementation and maintenance.

• Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be accepted.

Location

The position is located at the PTC’s headquarters in Middletown, PA, right outside of Pennsylvania’s capital city. The Central PA region has plenty to offer from picturesque scenery to premier entertainment, while residents enjoy an affordable cost of living. It is conveniently located within a few hours’ drive of popular metropolitan areas such as Philadelphia, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Washington D.C. and New York City.

There is a Pennsylvania residency requirement, which must be fulfilled within six months of employment.

Compensation & Benefits

The annual salary range for the Senior Network Engineer is $71,872-$107,807. The selected candidate will be offered an exceptional benefits package which includes comprehensive medical, dental, vision and prescription coverage, along with a benefit plan for retirement. Coverage is fully paid by the PTC for employee, spouse and/or eligible dependents.
