Dentons is recruiting for a Business Development Manager for its Venture Technology practice and the Technology sector. This market-facing position will collaborate with firm lawyers to create and execute outside-the-box business development strategies to generate new work, expand existing client relationships and enhance brand recognition. This position will be based in our Meatpacking office and reports to the US Business Development Director, working very closely with our lawyers practicing in these sectors. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

 Responsibilities:
•  Build and manage relationships with venture capital and private equity firms, corporate venture arms, startups, incubators, emerging companies and other key players in the venture technology ecosystem.

•  Develop annual strategic business development and marketing plans, and corresponding budgets.

•  Facilitate market, industry and competitive intelligence research analysis.

•  Manage client events to promote business development and brand awareness.

•  Cultivate strong working relationship with practice group leader/Global Head, as well as sector leads for Technology.

•  Serve as part of tight-knit working group of global business leads.

•  Work with lawyers to create sales proposals/pitches and responses to Requests for Proposals.

•  Create marketing materials to promote brand awareness and enable pitch opportunities.

•  Oversee thought leadership campaigns promoted via traditional and digital platforms.

•  Leverage media relations opportunities in collaboration with other marketing team members to support business development and marketing plans.

•  Assist with the onboarding of new laterals to best position them for success.

•  Draft submissions for targeted rankings and directories. 

 Qualifications:
•  7-10 years of business development experience, with preference to experience with a professional services or technology firm.

•  Management experience and knowledge of transactional services required.

•  Highly motivated and nimble self-starter; able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

•  Proficient at issue-spotting, and a strong intellectual curiosity about the business of law.

•  Highly organized, creative abilities and excellent writing and analytical skills.

•  Strong people skills; ability to work well at all levels within the organization as well as with firm clients.
