Where do you fit?

SugarCRM is looking for a highly motivated, data-driven engineer with experience working on distributed systems. As an individual contributor of the engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing new features, evolving our architecture, and improving operations. You understand the importance of code and design reviews, automated testing, and continuous delivery. Data informs the decisions you make and you can't imagine a world without metrics and instrumentation throughout the software systems you build. You have a passion for delivering amazing customer experiences, and enjoy participating in every level of product creation from ideation to pushing the final bits across the finish line.

Impact you will make in the role:

• Design, enhance and build out new feature and services
• Work with engineering team to architect for scale and performance
• Participate in code and design reviews, sprint plannings, and continuous releases
• Work with product and user experience teams to define and prototype new features
• Design and build internal tools to monitor and maintain a SaaS infrastructure

What you will need to succeed:

• 5-10 years in software development using Java
• 5-10 years developing web services as well as designing and working with API contracts across the stack
• 2+ years experience with Linux/Unix and at least one scripting language
• Solid object-oriented principles and software design knowledge
• Fundamental experience working on distributed systems
• Experience with at least one SQL and one NoSQL data store
• BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience
• Experience successfully delivering complex software systems

• Experience building high performance, highly scalable and highly available distributed systems
• Communication skills for both a technical and business audience
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience maintaining infrastructure on a major cloud provider
• Experience with Apache Spark
• Experience working in a startup environment
