Data Engineering Manager

Data is a critical component of our decision making. Our financial product is built from data science and we rely heavily on the data that helps us determine whether a home is right for our investors or not. Your expertise and knowledge leading cross functional scrum teams will help us solidify the foundation for our analytics and reporting capabilities.

Deliverables you’ll be responsible for:

• Hire a world class engineering organization that will serve as the platform for our business, resulting in innovation, quality, and functionality to our data platform.
• Build the infrastructure required for optimal growth including collaborating with other engineering leaders to help define scalable processes and procedures.
• Project Manage the projects your team is responsible for including defining work and scheduling engineering resources so scrum teams can work autonomously (or are made aware of dependencies when they arise)
• Provide technical leadership to your team by giving guidance, mentoring, and when necessary be hands on

Experience & Skills you’ll bring to the team:

• 2+ years leading or managing a highly functional data engineering team
• 5+ years experience as a Data Engineer or Data Architect, including designing, implementing, optimizing and operationalizing real-time big data analytics systems ideally in a Cloud Based environment, preferably AWS
• Experience with Scrum and Agile development processes
• Python, Redshift, AWS, EMR, Spark, AWS Batch, AWS Step Functions are technologies you will be working with on a daily basis – and the more experience you have the more successful you’ll be in this role.
• Passion and drive to modernize home financing – so the American dream can once again become reality.
• You’ve earned a Bachelor’s Degree in CS or another technical field (or have equivalent professional experience)
• Expertise at inspiring, leading, mentoring and training a team of engineers
