The Position

Reporting to the Investment Operations Manager, this position is responsible for the day-to-day management of accounting and financial reporting across Unison Investment Management’s investment vehicle entities.  As with any high-growth company, the duties associated with this position will be flexible and expand to include portfolio analytics, cash management, forecasting, data management, and working on ad-hoc development projects. This position requires excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, and the ability to independently manage assigned areas of responsibility.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Investment Operations Manager to be the first point of contact for all matters pertaining to accounting and financial reporting across all assets under management for Unison Investment Management.
  • Act as the primary contact for the Fund Administrator, as well as holding responsibility for the work produced by it and ensuring timely and accurate completion of fund financials for both internal and external reporting  
  • Key contact person for external auditors during annual audits
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual US GAAP financial statements
  • Calculation of management fees, carried interest, and other portfolio level fees/balances
  • Compilation of monthly and quarterly investor newsletters, which includes written descriptions of the portfolio activity for the reporting period, along with overall status, calculation and presentation of portfolio analytics through financial highlights, graphs and charts 
  • Ensure internal control activities are appropriately followed and monitored
  • Work with the Corporate Finance team, as needed, in consolidations of fund information into parent entity
  • Highlight opportunities for process improvements and automation of key areas to streamline accounting processes
  • Assist with the development of policies and procedures for the various business cycles impacting financial reporting
  • Be willing to grow with the company

Experience & Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of accounting experience required; private equity / fund accounting experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA Certification preferred
  • Well-versed in accounting and financial reporting processes and vernacular
  • Ability to work collaboratively with people at all levels of the organization and make actionable recommendations
  • An ownership mentality – a self-starter who will take the initiative to make a meaningful impact
  • Analytical and detail oriented with an ability to ensure completion of simultaneous tasks/projects
  • Curious, with a continuous desire to learn
  • A capacity for fun and light-heartedness
  • Energetic, with a passion for number crunching, and excitement to grow with the company
