IT Engineer I - Application Support
($65,308.73 - $97,635.20 Annually)
The Information Technology (IT) Engineer I class provides skilled technical services in support of installation, configuration, testing, integration, and ongoing support for City applications or infrastructure within one of the technical support areas of Business Applications and Application Development; Business Analytics; Database; Desktop and Mobile Services; Service Desk; Geographic Information System (GIS); Network; Security; Unified Communications; Server, Storage, and Backup; and Police Department-Information Technology (PDIT) Security.
This class performs other duties as assigned, and is FLSA exempt.
Application Support Assignment:
- Responsible for providing application support and integration, which may also include the development of applications, interfaces, and reports against multiple databases supporting vendor-purchased application solutions
- Performs complex diagnostics and troubleshooting in support of designated applications, including internally developed applications as well as vendor purchased solutions
- Creates test scripts and performs quality assurance (QA) reviews with the goal of increasing the percentage of successfully implemented changes with a reduction in defects
- Comprehensive understanding of the technologies supported, and to actively share this expertise with others
About the Ideal Candidate:

- Strong familiarity and experience in application support, integration and development, including Visual Studio (C#), JavaScript, PowerShell, HTML (5), CSS(3), XML, SQL Stored Procedures and SQL Report development
- SharePoint site collection administration and customization experience
- Ability to readily understand business processes and assist customers with application implementations, integrations and support
- Proficient with written and verbal communications, customer service, teamwork, project and technical leadership, report writing, and developing and maintaining technical documentation
- Proficient in reading, writing, analyzing, and manipulating data
- Office 365 applications, Exchange, Entity Framework and MVC are preferred

Minimum Qualifications Required:
- Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's Degree in Computer Science, or a related field, such as Engineering or Geography (by assignment)
- Considerable (3 - 5 years) computer systems experience in at least one of the following technical support areas: Applications, Database, Desktop, GIS, Help Desk, Network, Security, Server, Service Desk, Telecommunications, or Web
