Position Summary

The Art Institute of Chicago is seeking an e-commerce developer to support all inbound/outbound marketing/e-commerce initiatives for the museum. This individual will be part of a small team which reports to the Director of Digital Marketing, and will be responsible for conceptualizing, producing, and implementing custom e-commerce packages using expertise in digital marketing, landing page development/design, implementation and optimization techniques. The ideal candidate will bring knowledge of e-commerce best practices to create impactful revenue-generating vehicles for the museum. In addition to development tasks, the right candidate will be results-orientated and proactively help lead the pursuit of growth and innovation for the museum’s e-commerce experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Plan, wireframe, design & develop new e-commerce initiatives, including one-off promotional landing pages and online lead-capture forms.

Create specialty packages in Galaxy ticketing system to support promotions, including pricing, plu inclusion/creation, accounting setup, events, and print at home tickets.

Conduct on-going configuration and monitoring of packages within the ticketing (e-commerce) system, including adding new products and discounts, incident handling, problem tracking, and resolution coordination.   

Quickly troubleshoot and resolve production problems.

Create landing page template layout including style, color, and digital asset creation/collection

Manage landing page optimization strategies using both qualitative (content evaluation, UX design principles) and quantitative (campaign performance analysis, lead quality analysis, user segment exploration) sources.

Use analytics to drive informed business recommendations, and clearly communicate status throughout the quarter against goals and objectives to senior management and executives, identifying risks and opportunities.

Develop data insights and reports focusing on key marketing metrics, including traffic, conversion rates and lead quality, providing recommendations for future optimization.

Execute A/B and multivariate testing campaigns that will lift conversion rates.

Design & manage referral strategy including building corresponding URLs used in email communication & online advertising.

Support existing landing pages by tracking and responding to errors and issues, including tracing/identifying problems through various systems.

Track and assess success/failure of offerings to inform future promotions.

Qualifications

  • 0-2 years of development experience and exposure. Marketing/E-commerce landing page development experience highly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.    
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of landing page strategies, methods and industry best practices.
  • A combination of design and technical skills to implement landing page programs.
  • HTML5/CSS3/Animation/Optimization, Javascript/Flash/Actionscript, Photoshop.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative skills using A/B and multivariate testing approaches.
  • Strong knowledge of how to install, use, and read Google Analytics (Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics Ecommerce tracking).
  • Experience with process, from researching, brainstorming & wireframing to implementation, troubleshooting & analytics.
  • Good understanding of SEO principles and ensuring that application will adhere to them.
  • Possess strong problem-solving skills, including ability to address issues in collaboration with others as appropriate; ability to proactively identify and prevent potential problems.
  • Ability to manage time and deadline-driven workload effectively; includes systematic planning and follow-through on tasks and assignments.
  • Customer service orientation.
